How to Be Happy 

The purpose of life is to be happy. “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful” said Albert Schweitzer, an important philosopher. Happiness can be hard to find… In order to discover it, you must follow these simple steps.

Step one: Follow Your Heart
At some point in your life, you will come to make a major decision. To make the right choice, follow your heart. Do what you want to do and not what others tell you to do. In the long term, it will bring you happiness. Furthermore, listen to your conscience. It will tell you if what you’re doing is right, and feels right. Also, listening to Happy by Pharrell Williams can bring you some happiness…

Step two: Treat Your Body Right
Exercise is the best medication for a good attitude. You will notice that eating good nutriments, a bit of squats, and a nice night’s sleep will contribute to a happy life. “Getting just a single extra hour of sleep per night makes the average person happier than making $60,000 more in annual income, astoundingly enough.” Said author Arianna Huffington. Giving energy to your body can transform your mood into a happy one.

Step three: Smile
Smiling throughout your day can turn your mood and anyone else’s mood around. Smiling shows power and strength.  If you can learn how to smile in worse case scenarios, you’ll overcome obstacles which can lead to happiness. It is always important to smile, and you’ll notice that smiling in pictures can also bring your grandparents happiness! Smiling to make a good first impression can also grant you a job or a new friend, which could lead to something great in your life. Think of Louis Armstrong singing "When you're smilin', the whole world smiles with you.” It’s true.

Final Step: Be Yourself!
You’ll notice that letting others boss you around or judge you for stupid reasons will affect you in different ways. Don’t let it get to you! Being yourself and having as much fun as you will show others who is in charge of your own self, because you own yourself. The only way you will be really happy is when you come to the conclusion that the other small problems don’t matter. We concentrate on the small things when the good things are out there, and they bring joy. Love yourself to be happy!

If you follow these steps, you’ll notice that delight will come, and then will come success. Of course being happy can be hard at times, but life is too short to be sad. Enjoy the little things in life, and don’t forget to be happy!
